This is an authentic David Roberts lithograph from an antique folio. It is hand-colored and in very good condition. There is a small amount of foxing in the white area surrounding the lithograph but the lithograph itself is free of foxing. It is beautifully framed and ready for you to place on your wall.
In the Robert's era travel was slow and expensive. Travel drawings were, for the most part, people's window into the world. David Roberts traveled to Egypt and the Middle East and created incredible representations of the land and people he saw. On his return to England he worked with Louis Hague, history's most talented lithographer, and with the publisher F.G. Moon to create the "Robert's Prints". They are a beautiful picture of a journey and a time that has passed by. This is fine art and is a realistic portrayal of the time it was created in.
