The mysterious Tahitian pearl is an organic gem formed from the lip of an oyster (Pinctada margaritifera). These pearls derive their name from the fact that they are cultivated around the islands of French Polynesia, around Tahiti. They have a beautiful sheen and can show flashes of other colors.
